If you have been shopping at J. McLaughlin as long as I have, you probably remember their classic ribbon skirt made entirely of grosgrain ribbons. Well J.McLaughlin has brought back this fun and colorful design in both a skirt and a dress this fall, and they will be celebrating the return of the brand's Signature Ribbon Collection at their FNO party this Friday. There will also be light refreshments, complimentary ribbon treats, and a gift bag for each guest! Doesn't this sound like fun?!

I will be attending the party at the new J. McLaughlin store at 1004 Lexington Avenue which is on the corner of 72nd Street. This beautiful drawing of the store is from the company's website, but if you would like to see the store in person, please stop by on Friday! J.McLaughlin will also be having similar festivities at their stores in Brooklyn and Georgetown.
J. McLaughlin is one of my favorite brands because their clothes are impeccably tailored, and they never go out of style. And even though this company's line of clothing can sometimes be priced at more than $200 an item, I wanted to show you today that they also have a selection of mid range affordable pieces that anyone can mix into their wardrobe, to get the classic prepster look...without breaking the bank!
Here's a peak at how I would mix a few key J. McLaughlin pieces, like the Catalina Stripe Tee $98 and the Palm Spring Print Wool Scarf $75, with other affordable items from my closet to create a fun and updated preppy look for fall.
And if you live in the NYC area, I hope to see you at the FNO party at J.McLaughlin on Friday night!
