The Perfect Hostess Gift for $50 or Less at Alex and Lorenzo Home

9/2/2010

I am so lucky to live in New York City, a place where there are countless stores and resources to outfit your home and wardrobe.  But in a city with so many choices, where do I go when I need to buy something new for my home?

When it comes to shopping for my home or buying gifts, Alex and Lorenzo Home is always my first stop!

Alex and Lorenzo Home in New York  City has an incredible assortment of home accessories that range from mirrors, lamps, and linens, to unique tabletop pieces.  But what makes Alex and Lorenzo Home different from other home accessories stores?
Kristen McLaughlin, the owner of Alex and Lorenzo, personally picks out everything that she has in stock at her store, and she has impeccable taste.

Kristen used to work on Wall Street, but after taking time off to raise her children she knew that she wanted to go back to work, but this time in a new field.  After much thought it finally came to her...she had always loved interior design, but in particular, she loved the accessorizing!  And that is how Alex and Lorenzo Home was born.  Kristen has a daughter and son whose names are Alex and Lorenzo, and she never considered any other name for her store.

Kristen has an incredible assortment of reasonably priced home accessories, and she will wrap any gift you purchase in her beautiful signature box and bow.

Being that Labor Day weekend is right around the corner, I'm sure that many of you have plans to visit your friends and family for the long weekend.  If you still need to buy a gift for this weekend, this is the perfect place to stop before you head out of town!

Here are a few of my top picks for Hostess Gifts for $50 or Less, all from Alex and Lorenzo Home.

Linen napkins are an entertaining essential, and they are a perfect gift to show your weekend host how much you appreciate their hospitality!

And do you know someone who likes artichokes?  If so I think this fun green artichoke serving dish is the perfect gift!  And you can't beat the price...

Who doesn't love having a water glass and carafe on their nightstand?  I love how this carafe is such a unique shape.

And do you know someone who loves foo dogs?  What better weekend host gift than to get your foo loving friends this set of turquoise foo dog miniatures.  So cute!

I simply love this feature- favorite day of the week - luxe for less. That's how I lead my own life. Furthermore, I think YOUR taste is impeccable, never mind the vendor, because it's you who pick out these items and indeed they are unique, "artsy" and appealing. It must take so much time to do this but you know...please KEEP IT UP. I, the reader am benefiting. Thanks Jen, Janet
P.S. you write really well! (publishing/journalism- a new career?)

Thank you for introducing everyone to Alex & Lorenzo! I love visiting there with I'm in New York. I got my mother some cute pineapple coasters there, and she loves them! You really can't go wrong--great picks!

I have heard you talk about this store since we became friends, WOW it's been like 6 years....time FLIES, and I still haven't made it a priority to stop by there. However, now that I have seen all of the beautiful things at Alex & Lorenzo I am heading over there right after work today. I am in desperate need of pretty things for the man cave that I am trying to redecorate!! Thanks again Jenn and I will tell Kristen where I heard about her store...

Probably some of the worst service I have received in the city, and this came from the owner. The woman was rude, and made one feel that she was doing you a favour by serving you. There are some lovely items in the shop, but not lovely enough to endure that type of treatment.

Never again!
