My inspiration for today's post was this recent Tobi Fairley showroom that was featured in Traditional Home...
But how can you incorporate recycled, or vintage pieces into your home and make sure they highlight, not clash with the pre-existing decor? According to Ms. Fairley, "The sky's the limit when it comes to color, especially with paint...You don't necessarily have to buy new furnishings in the colors you want. You can create the look by painting items to fit your palette."
And what I am particularly drawn to in this showroom are these striking orange frames! As Tobi commented on these frames "Rather than being used to frame art, the frames are the art."
I love the statement of these bright orange frames against the tan wall, both on their own and with pictures of shells and marine life. And what an easy DIY project!
The next time you are at a flea market or antique store, why not pick up a few old vintage frames? Spray painting or painting these frames will take mere minutes and cost you almost nothing, but what an impact a row of bright painted vintage frames has on the decor of a room!
Here is an example of how paint can really update an old frame from the website How About Orange Blogspot....
I can't wait to take Tobi's lead and try this energy efficient, affordable, and attractive DIY decorating tip soon!
